The World Health Organization’s (WHO) World Hand Hygiene Day (WHHD) SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands campaign is a global initiative aimed at promoting the importance of hand hygiene in healthcare and improving hand hygiene practices.
This year, WHHD is celebrating its 15th anniversary and has made significant progress in raising awareness about the importance of hand hygiene. In order to continue the success of the campaign, lessons learned from evaluations, including data from WHO analytics, will be utilized to further engage and sustain participation in the initiative.
The theme for WHHD 2023 is “accelerate action together”, which aims to encourage collaboration and collective efforts in promoting hand hygiene and preventing the spread of infections. Under this theme, objectives have been developed to promote the importance of hand hygiene and provide practical solutions for individuals to improve their hand hygiene practices.
A slogan has also been developed as part of the campaign – “Clean Hands Save Lives” – which emphasizes the critical role that clean hands play in preventing infections and saving lives. Additionally, a range of products have been designed to promote good hand hygiene practices, including posters, brochures, and educational materials for healthcare facilities.
