Bob’s Stores, a well-known retailer of discount clothing and shoes, is closing all its locations and liquidating all inventory as part of a Chapter 11 restructuring petition filed on June 18. The company announced that going-out-of-business sales started on Friday with discounts of 30-70% off on workwear, footwear, team wear, everyday clothing, store fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
Despite efforts to make changes to the company’s structure and operations, Bob’s Stores was unable to secure the necessary finances to continue operations. To manage the liquidation event for all 21 Bob’s Stores locations throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island, Hilco Merchant Resources and Gordon Brothers have been appointed.
In a statement, Dave Barton, the president of Bob’s Stores expressed his regret over the financial situation that led to the closure. Bob’s Stores has been a community staple for nearly 70 years and is thankful for the support of vendors, suppliers, customers, and employees over the years. Headquartered in Meriden, Connecticut, Bob’s Stores is known for its affordable prices and comprehensive merchandise offerings. It is a subsidiary of GoDigital Media Group which also owns businesses like Cinq Music Eastern Mountain Sports YogaWorks.
