The Ministry of the Prime Minister has approved the entry of foreign workers upon private request from employers in the industrial sector, with permission from the Population and Migration Directorate. This decision, aimed at quickly resolving labor shortages, allows for the immediate hiring of 2,030 foreign workers at the request of employers with valid permits.
The government passed a resolution on July 30, 2023, allowing the import of 3,000 foreign workers for industries, but this quota has yet to be filled despite increasing labor shortages resulting from the ongoing war. To meet this quota, the Director General’s Commission for Foreign Workers is working on promoting bilateral agreements with foreign countries while continuing to study the current situation to resolve the issue within the legal framework and uphold the rights of foreign workers.
