Apple Vet and Disney Pro Tony Billetter Joins Venu Sports, a Disruptive Streaming Sports Venture from Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros.

Tony Billetter appointed as Venu Sports Senior Vice President of Strategy and Planning

Tony Billetter, a former Apple executive and Disney veteran, has joined Venu Sports, a joint venture of Disney, Fox Corp., and Warner Bros. Discovery. Billetter reunites with Pete Distad, CEO of Venu, who previously oversaw Apple TV+ business and worked at the tech giant for a decade.

Billetter has over 20 years of experience in the media industry and has held various leadership roles at major companies like Apple and Disney. He holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in finance from San Francisco State University.

Last week, Disney, Fox, and WBD announced Venu Sports as the name of the joint venture. Another important addition to the team is Jessica Casano-Antonellis, who was previously SVP and head of communications at SiriusXM and head of PR for Disney’s streaming group.

Venu Sports is set to launch in fall 2024 as a streaming-sports bundle combining ESPN+ with linear TV networks like ABC, ESPN, Fox, TNT, TBS, and more. The pricing and specific launch date are yet to be announced and depend on regulatory approval and final agreements between the parties involved.

If all goes well, Venu will offer its service directly to consumers via a new app with the option to bundle it with Disney+
