Apple’s AI Revolution: How ‘Apple Intelligence’ Will Transform User Experience, but Not for Everyone

Apple’s New AI Features Unavailable to 90% of iPhone Users

There are approximately 1.5 billion active internet users worldwide, with less than 10% having access to Apple’s new artificial intelligence (AI) features without purchasing a new phone. Last week, at WWDC 2024, Apple announced ‘Apple Intelligence’, a set of AI-based features designed to make their devices smarter and more useful. However, only iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will receive these new AI tools, leaving over 90% of Apple users without access to the technology.

The new AI functions will not be available in Spanish until at least 2025 and will only be accessible on English-speaking devices first. Models with M1 processors or higher will benefit from ‘Apple Intelligence’ on iPads and Macs. The company explained that the processing capacity required for the new AI functions is high, which is why the limitation is specific to certain models with A17 processors or higher.

With the introduction of ‘Apple Intelligence’, Siri has seen significant improvements, including real-time understanding and correction of instructions, deeper integration with the operating system, and the ability to interact via text. Other features include composing and correcting text in applications, creating personalized emojis with Genmoji, and generating images with Image Playground.

Among other functions, ‘Apple Intelligence’ can transcribe and summarize phone conversations, emails, and notifications. The technology aims to enhance user experience and productivity by leveraging AI capabilities to provide intelligent assistance to Apple users.

In summary, while ‘Apple Intelligence’ promises significant improvements in user experience and productivity for some Apple users, many others will be left without access to the technology until at least 2025 due to language barriers or device limitations.
