Aurora Memorial Day Parade 2024 to be led by World War II veteran Dick Miller, honored by city

Aurora, IL – World War II veteran Dick Miller has been selected as the grand marshal for the Memorial Day Parade 2024. The community gathered to honor this special veteran who enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor. Despite his ship being destroyed by Japanese forces, Miller survived and continued to serve in the Navy Reserve in Illinois.

During a ceremony at Aurora City Hall, Miller led the crowd in singing “God Bless America” and was honored by the city with his own official day on June 26 as Dick Miller Day. On Memorial Day, he will lead the parade at the intersection of Benton Street and River Street at 10 a.m.
