Australian Fast Bowler Pat Cummins Makes T20 World Cup History with Double Hat-Trick in Three Days!

Pat Cummins takes consecutive hat-tricks as Australia dominates against Afghanistan in 2024 T20 World Cup: ‘I’ll never forget this one’

Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins made history during the T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eight match against Afghanistan, when he claimed his second hat-trick in three days. This incredible feat made him only the fifth bowler in men’s T20Is to achieve this milestone.

Cummins had already taken a hat-trick against Bangladesh in Antigua and replicated his success in St Vincent. In the 18th over, he had Rashid Khan caught at long on, and then in the 20th over, he removed Karim Janat and Gulbadin Naib in similar fashion. He narrowly missed a chance to take four wickets in four balls when David Warner missed a catch at deep square off Nangeyalia Kharote’s shot.

The quick succession of his hat-tricks was notable, with only Pavlovic achieving his two on consecutive days in 2023. Cummins also became only the second player ever to take a hat-trick in consecutive international matches, following in the footsteps of Wasim Akram who did so in consecutive Tests in 1999.

Cummins’ historic achievement highlights his skill and consistency as a bowler and adds to the list of memorable moments in T20 cricket history. His performance will be remembered for years to come as one of the greatest achievements by an Australian bowler.
