Australia’s Pat Cummins on the Brink of T20 World Cup History as He Looks to Take Three Hat-Tricks in a Row

Cricket News: Pat Cummins eyes hat-trick against India in T20 World Cup

Australia’s Pat Cummins will have the chance to make history in the T20 World Cup ‘Super 8s’ match against India on Monday. With back-to-back hat-tricks in the tournament so far, Cummins is the only bowler to have achieved this feat in T20 World Cup history. If he takes another hat-trick in the upcoming match, he will become the first bowler ever to achieve three hat-tricks in international cricket.

Cummins, who captains Australia in ODIs and Tests, has already led his team to victories in the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup, defeating India in the finals. In the ‘Super 8s’ stage, Cummins dismissed Rashid Khan on the last ball of his third over and went on to take two more wickets in three balls in his final over. Despite his impressive performance, Australia suffered a surprising defeat against Afghanistan.

Interestingly, Cummins had also taken a hat-trick in Australia’s previous match against Bangladesh during the ‘Super 8s’ stage. He dismissed three consecutive batters in the last over of his spell, becoming only the second Australian bowler to take a hat-trick in a T20 World Cup match after Brett Lee achieved this feat for Australia against Bangladesh during their inaugural 2007 edition of the tournament.
