Avery Dennison’s CleanFlake Adhesive Technology Revolutionizes PET Recycling with Innovative Features and APR Recognition

Avery Dennison Introduces Repositionable Feature to CleanFlake Adhesive Technology

Avery Dennison Corporation has achieved a major milestone with their CleanFlake adhesive technology, which has significantly improved PET recycling by enabling labels to be easily removed during the recycling process. This innovative technology has been recognized by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR).

CleanFlake’s latest version now includes a repositioning feature that allows for manual removal of labels from PET substrates within an 8-hour window. This feature is particularly useful when labels are misaligned during the automated labeling process, preventing waste and promoting resource efficiency. In addition to minimizing waste, CleanFlake also encourages the effective use of resources.

Furthermore, CleanFlake’s latest iteration has been acknowledged for meeting or exceeding the voluntary requirements for APR Design for Recyclability. Avery Dennison ensured that the solution was evaluated using the most stringent, industry-accepted criteria that consider a wide range of design features that impact plastic recycling.

Avery Dennison emphasizes that CleanFlake is available with facestocks and liners made from recycled materials or requiring fewer resources, resulting in a fully sustainable label construction. This underscores the company’s commitment to advancing sustainability practices while maintaining high-performance standards. Additionally, CleanFlake seamlessly integrates into the current value chain without requiring any additional investment to transition from traditional labels.
