Amy Perry, who has been the president of Banner Health since 2021, will take over as the CEO and president on June 30. Peter Fine, who has led the health system for over 24 years, will step down and assume the role of CEO emeritus until January 2025. The announcement was made by the board of directors of Banner Health.
Anne Mariucci, the chair of the board, expressed gratitude to Fine for his leadership and highlighted his continued role as CEO emeritus. Fine was reported to be one of the highest-paid nonprofit hospital CEOs in Arizona in 2021, with a total pay package of $12.4 million that included retirement pay accrued but not paid out.
Perry is praised for her focus on technology, innovation, safety, trusted relationships, best-in-class care, and affordable coverage. She has been instrumental in advancing Banner’s mission to make healthcare easier for better lives. As she assumes her new role as CEO and president, she looks forward to continuing this work at Banner Health.
Fine is excited to work with Perry to ensure a smooth transition and sees her as an ideal leader to continue driving success at Banner Health. He also expressed his gratitude for Anne Mariucci’s support throughout his tenure as head of the health system.
