After five years with the Philadelphia 76ers, Tobias Harris is returning to his former team, the Detroit Pistons. The two-year, $52 million deal was confirmed by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. During his NBA career, Harris has played 157 games for the Pistons.
Despite some successful seasons and strong playoff performances, including a heartbreaking Game 7 loss to the Raptors in the Eastern Conference semifinals, Harris was unable to help the Sixers advance past the second round. This year, he went scoreless in the Sixers’ last game against the Knicks.
Throughout his time with the Sixers, Harris averaged 17.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. He also made 575 three-pointers, ranking fourth in franchise history. As Harris heads to Detroit, the Pistons are in a rebuilding phase led by young players like Cade Cunningham and Ausar Thompson.
During his time in Philadelphia, Harris served as a mentor to younger players like Tyrese Maxey and Ricky Council IV.
