Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice set to kick off 2024 Venice Film Festival

The 81st Venice International Film Festival is set to open this year with the long-awaited world premiere of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the sequel to Tim Burton’s iconic 1988 comedy-horror hit. Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara will reunite for the sequel, along with new cast members Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Jenna Ortega, and Willem Dafoe. The Warner Bros. release will hit North America on September 6 and internationally on September 4.

The festival’s artistic director, Alberto Barbera, expressed his excitement for the premiere of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. “It is an honor and a pride for us to host such a creative work by one of our most beloved filmmakers,” he said. Burton is known for his extraordinary visionary talent and masterful realization, which have made him a legendary figure in the world of cinema.

Tim Burton himself shared his excitement about the premiere of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice at the Venice Film Festival. “I am thrilled that my beloved character will be returning to the screen once again in this incredible project,” he said. This marks Warner Bros.’ latest success at the festival after premiering Joker in 2019 and Dune in 2021.

The 81st Venice Film Festival will take place from August 28 to September 7 and showcase a diverse range of films and talent from around the world.
