Biden Campaign Faces Ominous Polling Numbers Amid Trump’s Debate Challenge

CBS NEWS poll: Majority believe Biden lacks cognitive abilities

After the televised debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump last weekend, a survey published on CBS News today has revealed troubling news for Biden’s presidential campaign. The survey shows that three out of four respondents believe that Biden should not have run in the first place, a significant increase compared to February. Additionally, 72% of respondents think that Biden lacks the cognitive skills necessary to serve as president for the second time, while only 49% of respondents think the same way about his opponent.

Among Democrats, there is a 10% decrease in those who believe that Biden should run for president now compared to last February. The reasons for the growing lack of confidence in Biden were defined as “tragic” by the CBS network. Of those who think that Biden should not run now, 86% believe he should not run because of his age, 71% are afraid of his decisions, 66% are disappointed with his performance as current president, and 59% do not believe in his ability to mount an effective campaign.

Despite this gap in credibility reputations between the candidates, it seems that most American public generally thinks both candidates are not telling the truth. When asked which contestant told the truth during the televised debate held over the weekend only 40% of respondents said they believed Joe Biden was telling the truth and 32% said they thought Trump told the truth. While 45% of respondents believe that Trump administration will benefit them financially while only 19% believes same about Biden administration.

Moving forward from these alarming data for Biden, it appears that most Democratic voters still believe he should continue running for president: 55% answered that he should continue with his campaign while 45% answered that he should vacate his seat. It was reported tonight by NBC News that Biden will hold a discussion with his family members on whether to retire even though at the end of week he stated publicly he has no intention of doing so.
