Biden-Sanders Dynamic Duo: Fighting Big Pharma for More Affordable Medicare Healthcare

President Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders came together to promote the administration’s efforts to reduce healthcare costs for Medicare beneficiaries. During an event at the White House, Biden acknowledged their 25-year fight against Big Pharma and celebrated their victory in passing legislation to lower healthcare costs. The Democrats’ sweeping climate, healthcare, and tax package includes caps on various healthcare costs for Medicare beneficiaries, such as $35 a month for insulin and $2,000 a year for prescription drugs. Despite the popularity of these achievements with the public, Biden has not yet received full credit from voters.

Both Biden and Sanders highlighted their work in pressuring major inhaler manufacturers to cap the costs of these devices at $35 a month. The White House reported that without insurance, inhalers can cost anywhere between $200 to $600. Sanders expressed gratitude for Biden’s efforts thus far and expressed interest in continuing to work together on this issue.

Sanders, a Vermont independent, and Biden were once rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020. Following Sanders’ withdrawal from the race, his team collaborated with Biden’s campaign officials to develop a party policy platform that reflected Sanders’ influence. The event at the White House served as an opportunity for both individuals to showcase their shared commitment to addressing healthcare costs and making lifesaving medications more affordable for all Americans.

The two politicians have come together on several occasions since then, including signing into law legislation that lowered drug prices for seniors. They continue to advocate for policies that aim to reduce healthcare costs and improve access to care for millions of Americans.

In conclusion, President Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders have put aside their differences and worked together towards a common goal – reducing healthcare costs for all Americans. Their collaboration has led to significant progress in this area, including caps on various healthcare costs for Medicare beneficiaries such as insulin and prescription drugs. While there is still much work to be done, their shared commitment is a step towards ensuring that everyone has access to affordable healthcare services.
