Imad Wasim, Pakistan’s all-rounder, expressed his disappointment after the team’s shocking exit from the T20 World Cup in the group stage. However, he suggested that the team’s disappointing show could be a blessing in disguise as it will give the players a chance to do some soul searching and figure out what needs to be done to avoid such capitulation in the future.
Imad, along with veteran pacer Mohammad Amir, was recalled to the side for the tournament on the back of their performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). In a post-match press conference, Imad shared his views on the harsh criticism of wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan’s fitness, stating that he has always focused on cricket analysis and has not targeted individuals. He emphasized the importance of analyzing cricket performance without resorting to personal attacks.
Imad acknowledged that setbacks are part of the game and emphasized how players should react after a fall. He urged fans not to forget about human emotions while scrutinizing their performance and reminded them that mistakes were made but players are also human and can feel sadness over disappointing results.
The group stage exit was tough pill for Pakistan players who were more disappointed than fans. Imad explained that they need to focus on positive things now and work towards improving their game for future tournaments.
