The team faced delays in Bridgetown, Barbados, due to a hurricane before finally arriving in Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the championship team at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg (LKM), to express his happiness and engage in a conversation about their journey throughout the tournament.
The Prime Minister shared his experience on social media, calling it a memorable meeting with the World Cup-winning team. A video released by the Prime Minister’s Office showed the players in a relaxed discussion with Modi, with Rohit Sharma seated next to him and head coach Rahul Dravid on the other side. The players were dressed in special ‘CHAMPIONS’ jerseys with two stars, representing their two T20 World Cup victories.
During the meeting, BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah presented Prime Minister Modi with a customized Team India jersey featuring ‘NAMO’ and the number ‘1’ as a gesture of appreciation and respect towards the Prime Minister. The atmosphere was jovial, with players visibly pleased to interact with the Prime Minister.
