The agreement on the exchange of data for customs transit within the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project was approved by the President of Turkey. The three countries, namely Turkey, Georgia, and Azerbaijan, signed the agreement on August 18, 2022 in Baku. Its main objective is to simplify customs procedures for goods transported on the railway, which passes through all three countries.
The construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway began in 2007 and was officially opened in 2017. This railway is an important transportation link that connects the three countries and facilitates trade and transit of goods between them. The approval of this agreement will help streamline customs procedures for goods moving through the railway, making it easier and more efficient for businesses to transport their products between Turkey, Georgia, and Azerbaijan.
This development is expected to further boost economic cooperation and trade between the three countries. It represents a significant step towards enhancing transportation infrastructure and facilitating trade in the region. The commitment of the three countries to strengthening economic ties and promoting regional cooperation is demonstrated by this agreement.
