Bridging the Gap: Developing Suitable Training Programs for Engineers in the Semiconductor Chip Industry in Vietnam

The semiconductor chip industry requires skilled engineers to drive technological advancements and economic growth in Vietnam. The development of suitable training programs for engineers in this field is crucial, as it will provide the necessary human resources for technology transfer and development.

According to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son, focusing on training engineers for the semiconductor industry is a strategic direction that can lead to rapid and sustainable economic development. He emphasized the importance of developing training programs that meet the quantity and quality demands of businesses.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien from Hanoi University of Science and Technology suggested that training programs should be based on the actual needs of the industry, determining which fields of semiconductor ICs the engineers will work in after completing their training.

Dr. Nguyen Duc Minh from Hanoi University of Science and Technology proposed a pilot manufacturing program that involves collaboration between universities, businesses, and government to provide scholarships, tax incentives, and resources for training programs in the semiconductor chip industry. This program aims to address the gap between the skills taught in universities and the skills needed in IC design companies.

Dr. Nguyen Minh Son from the University of Information Technology in Ho Chi Minh City highlighted another challenge faced by this field: there is a need for a shared laboratory model to promote research and train human resources in the semiconductor chip industry. He emphasized that such a model can help bridge the gap between academic research and industrial practice, leading to more effective training programs.

Overall, developing suitable training programs for engineers in the semiconductor chip industry is essential for meeting growing demand for skilled professionals in this field while driving technological advancements and economic growth in Vietnam.
