Bridging the Skilled Labor Gap with Artificial Intelligence: Europe’s Future Economic Competitiveness at KitzSummit

As a partner at BCG in Berlin and an expert in Responsible AI and Generative AI, Kirsten Rulf emphasizes the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing Europe’s skilled labor shortage. She points out that Austria alone lacks 28,000 IT skilled workers, with millions of shortages across Europe. Rulf also highlights the lack of teachers to train future skilled workers as a significant challenge.

Rulf has been involved in shaping digital and data policies in Germany and has advised top leaders like Angela Merkel and Olaf Scholz on AI matters. She acknowledges the risks associated with AI, such as cyberattacks and misinformation, but also highlights its potential to drive economic progress.

Rulf believes that Europe has the opportunity to lead in AI applications but stresses the importance of transforming companies to leverage this technology. She emphasizes that successful AI implementation is not just about technology but also about people and their ability to apply AI effectively in businesses.

KitzSummit, organized by Gabi Spiegelfeld and Christian Harisch in Kitzbühel, will host a lineup of influential speakers and guests, including government officials, industry leaders, and experts in various fields. The summit will delve into critical topics like geopolitics, Europe’s position in the changing world order, and workforce trends. Previous attendees include prominent figures from politics, business, academia, and technology sectors.

Overall, the discussion at KitzSummit will focus on the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on Europe’s future economic growth and global competitiveness. With the right strategies and investments in AI implementation, Europe can position itself as a leader in the field and attract and retain top talent in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
