British Tennis Stars Exclude Emma Raducanu from Paris Olympics While Andy Murray Leads Team GB

Emma Raducanu, the 20-year-old US Open champion, has decided not to play for Great Britain at the upcoming Olympics in Paris this summer. Despite being offered one of two places reserved for former Grand Slam champions by the ITF, Raducanu is still recovering from surgery on her wrists and ankle last year and is therefore ineligible to qualify for the Games.

Andy Murray, a two-time gold medalist, will instead be representing Great Britain in tennis at the Olympics. Joining him in the men’s singles competition will be Cameron Norrie, Jack Draper, and Dan Evans. Katie Boulter is the only British woman who has qualified by ranking for the Games.

Murray and Dan Evans have also been nominated for the men’s doubles competition, along with Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski. Boulter and Heather Watson have been nominated for the women’s doubles competition, while Harriet Dart and Maia Lumsden have also been selected to represent Great Britain in women’s doubles.

The Olympic tennis tournament at Roland Garros will take place from July 27th to August 4th and will feature competitions in women’s singles, men’s singles, women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles. The full entry list for Paris 2024 will be announced by the ITF on July 4th.
