Celebrating Jeff Skinner’s 1,000th NHL Game: Buffs Take on Capitals in an Overtime Showdown

The Buffalo Sabres are set to honor Jeff Skinner’s 1,000th NHL game on Tuesday night when they take on the Washington Capitals. The last meeting between the two teams ended in an overtime victory for the Capitals with a score of 4-3.

To celebrate Skinner’s milestone game, fans will be treated to special giveaways at a pregame ceremony kicking off at 6:55 p.m. The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative red beanie featuring Skinner’s signature. Throughout the game, there will be additional Skinner-themed giveaways for fans to enjoy.

For this special occasion, the Sabres will wear their black-and-red alternate jerseys for the final time this season, which will feature a commemorative jersey patch with Jeff Skinner’s 1,000th game logo. Buffalo’s record at home is 18-19-1 and overall they sit at 35-35-5 with a scoring differential of -5.

The Washington Capitals have gone 16-16-4 on the road and have an overall record of 36-27-10 with a scoring differential of -30, having scored 197 goals while conceding 227. Key players to watch in this game include Rasmus Dahlin and Tage Thompson for the Sabres, and Tom Wilson and Alexander Ovechkin for the Capitals.

In their last 10 games, the Sabres have gone 5-5-0 scoring an average of 3.4 goals per game and conceding 2.9 goals per game while Washington has gone 6-3-1 with an average of three goals scored per game and three goals conceded per game respectively .
