Chattanooga’s Business Landscape in May: A Mix of New Beginnings and Endings

In May, the business landscape of Chattanooga saw a mix of openings, closures, expansions, and announcements. Notable developments included the opening of Parkridge Hospital’s new emergency room facility in Soddy-Daisy, featuring 12 beds, a trauma room, diagnostic capabilities, and support services. Additionally, Acme Fusion Cafe opened in Ooltewah, offering a variety of dining options throughout the week.

However, Food Works closed its doors after 18 years of operation in the North Shore area. Despite the struggles faced during the pandemic, the restaurant owners made the difficult decision to cease operations.

Five Star Breaktime Solutions acquired Van Vending Service Inc. in Hendersonville, Tennessee in May. Nonstop flights between Chattanooga and Las Vegas also began at the Chattanooga Airport in May. Additionally, Food City broke ground on a new supermarket in Rhea County, set to open in spring 2025.

Exciting developments were also announced in May as plans for a new headquarters building for the Chattanooga Football Club in downtown’s Westside were unveiled. The Chattanooga Lookouts are also expected to start playing in their new South Broad District ballpark in 2026. City officials are currently hiring a contractor for the renovation of the Walnut Street Bridge while Rashad Jones-Jennings is investing in a $12 million residential development in Eastdale. A dual-brand Home2Suites and Tru by Hilton hotel is also set to be built in Cleveland, Tennessee
