Winston Watkins Jr., a highly sought-after wide receiver from the class of 2025, recently committed to the Colorado Buffaloes. Despite decommitting in November, Colorado is still in the running as Watkins included them in his top 16 selection on Thursday.
Hailing from Venice, Florida, Watkins is a four-star recruit who stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs 172 pounds. Known for his explosiveness, Watkins primarily plays in the slot and excels as a route runner. His agility makes it difficult for defenders to tackle him, and his speed allows him to break away from them in open field situations.
Colorado’s success in landing Watkins is especially encouraging given the strong competition he faced. Some of the other notable teams in Watkins’ top 16 include Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, Texas, and Penn State. Even though it may be challenging to keep up with these powerhouse programs, the fact that Colorado is still a contender for Watkins is a positive sign.
