Conservatives vs. Far-Right: A Battle for EU Election Supremacy

Predicted winners in the European Union elections

The European People’s Party (EPP), one of the oldest political parties in the European Union (EU), is known for its conservative and liberal positions. This party supports the expansion of the EU and deeper integration among its members, with Manfred Weber currently leading it as a German politician.

In the upcoming elections for the European Parliament, all 28 member states will participate, resulting in 705 members being elected to represent the 448 million citizens. Seats are allocated based on population size, with some countries being divided into constituencies while others are treated as a single constituency. All countries hold proportional elections.

Germany is expected to have a clear winner in EPP, securing over 30% of the votes. The far-right party comes in second, facing a challenge from Olaf Schulz’s Social Democratic Party. The Greens may finish fourth place, while liberals are facing a decline. Moderates are predicted to outnumber protest voters in this election cycle.

France may see far-right victories led by Marine Le Pen due to social dissatisfaction. Emmanuel Macron’s party is projected to face defeat in these elections due to his low popularity at home. The Ukrainian issue is anticipated to be a major concern in the next EU legislature, requiring political forces to overcome differences.

Far-right parties are also predicted to win in Georgia and Spain, with FdL potentially supporting moderate forces. Poland presents a unique political landscape with clashes between Mateusz Morawiecki’s coalition and ultra-conservatives, where PiS is currently leading but outcomes remain uncertain.

Throughout Europe, there has been an increasing trend towards right-leaning parties gaining ground and challenging established political forces. These upcoming elections will reveal the balance of power within the European Parliament and shape the direction of the EU for years to come.
