Counting Down to Kickoff: Arizona Cardinals’ No. 79 Phil Hoskins and the Impact of Previous No. 79 Josh Jones on the Team

The Cardinals’ season opener against the Bills is 79 days away.

With the 2024 NFL regular season just 79 days away, the Arizona Cardinals are preparing for their season opener against the Buffalo Bills in Highmark Stadium on September 8th. The Cardinals’ current No. 79 is defensive lineman Phil Hoskins, who spent time on the practice squad last year and played in five games, starting one. Hoskins had eight tackles in 124 defensive snaps and will have to fight to make this year’s roster.

The Cardinals’ previous impactful No. 79 was tackle Josh Jones. Drafted in the third round in 2020, Jones played in 47 games and started 21 before being traded to the Houston Texans last year. Although he didn’t reach the expectations of being a longtime starting tackle, Jones made an impact in his role on the team.
