Crewe Striker Chris Long Signs New One-Year Deal Amidst Championship Ambitions

Crewe FC secures Striker Long for another year with new contract deal

Crewe striker Chris Long has agreed to a new one-year deal with the League Two club. Long, 29, joined Crewe from Motherwell in July 2021 and had a successful season scoring nine goals for the team. This helped Crewe secure a sixth-place finish in the league and reach the play-off final at Wembley, although they were ultimately defeated 2-0 by Crawley.

Having represented England at the Under-20 level, Long has shown his skills on the field by scoring a total of 22 goals in 69 league appearances for Crewe so far. After their play-off final loss, Crewe offered new contracts to Long and four other players including defenders Rio Adebisi and Luke Offord, and striker Courtney Baker-Richardson. However, the team’s top scorer Elliott Nevitt decided to move on and signed with Gillingham instead.

With Long committing to another year at Crewe, fans of the Railwaymen can look forward to seeing more of his goal-scoring prowess in the upcoming season. His experience and talent will be key as the team aims to build on their successes and challenge for promotion in the league.
