The upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA is set to be a historic event as it marks the first time a major cricket tournament will be held in the USA. Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has commented on the growth of cricket in America, stating that it presents new opportunities for the sport. He believes that exposure in the USA will be beneficial for cricket as a whole.
The T20 World Cup is also seen as a crucial step towards cricket’s return to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, after 128 years. The tournament will feature a total of 16 games across three venues in New York, Dallas, and Lauderhill, with the majority of matches being held in the Caribbean including the knockout stage.
In addition to this, Pant shared his thoughts on the drop-in pitches being used for the tournament. He mentioned that he is adapting to the conditions of the pitches and weather in the USA, which is different from what he is used to. Ten drop-in pitches have been prepared in Florida since late December, with expertise from Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions, led by head curator Damian Hough.
