Damian Lee Returns to Phoenix Suns on One-Year Contract After Declining Player Option

Reportedly, Damion Lee is coming back to the Phoenix Suns

Damian Lee has opted to decline his $2.8 million player option with the Phoenix Suns for the upcoming 2024-25 season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Despite this decision, he will rejoin the team on a one-year contract.

Lee provides depth at the shooting guard position, joining players like Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Grayson Allen. This role was previously filled by Eric Gordon, who has since left to join the Philadelphia 76ers. With Lee back on the roster, the Suns now have 14 players under contract and one spot open.

During his previous season with the Suns in 2022-23, Lee averaged 8.2 points on 44.2% shooting and 44.5% from long range. He also contributed three rebounds and 1.3 assists in 74 games played. Unfortunately, he missed the entire 2023-24 season due to a right meniscus injury that required surgery.

Lee originally started his career with the Atlanta Hawks in 2016 and formed a partnership with head coach Mike Budenholzer during his time there, appearing in 15 games and starting in all of them during the 2017-18 season.
