Sweden has announced that Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Marcus Pettersson has been added to its roster for the upcoming IIHF World Championship tournament in May. Along with him, Seattle Kraken forward Andre Burakovsky was also named to the team for the tournament taking place in Czechia from May 10-26.
Pettersson, 27, has represented Sweden in international competitions before, including the IIHF World Championship tournaments in 2019 and 2022. This season, he had a successful run with the Penguins, playing in all 82 games and achieving career highs in goals, assists, points, and average ice time per game.
Erik Karlsson, who played alongside Pettersson on defense for the Penguins this season, was also included in Sweden’s roster for the upcoming tournament. Fans can look forward to watching Pettersson and his teammates compete at the IIHF World Championship in May.
