Health department building in Butler County destroyed by fire

On Sunday morning, a fire broke out at the building that houses the Butler County Health Department and EMA office in Greenville, Alabama. Emergency crews were alerted to the scene on Airport Road at approximately 3:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they found the building engulfed in flames. Despite their best efforts to put out the fire, it was ultimately declared a total loss.

Fortunately, no one was inside the building at the time of the fire, and there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, though authorities have ruled out arson as a possible cause.

In response to the fire, the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) is currently working to find a temporary location to provide health services to Butler County residents. In the meantime, residents are advised to seek health services from other nearby locations such as Crenshaw County Health Department or any other available options. The ADPH website has contact information and operating hours for all county health department locations for reference.
