Early Morning Tragedy: Truck Crashes into TaraVista Behavioral Health Center, Killing Driver and Raising Concerns over Mental Health Services in Devens

Truck collides with Devens behavioral health center, driver pronounced dead

A tragic incident occurred in Devens early Wednesday morning, where a truck crashed into a behavioral health center resulting in the death of the driver. The truck crashed into the front of the building located at 85 Patton Road, just after 5:30 a.m. When first responders arrived, the truck was on fire and the driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was found dead. Fortunately, no one in the building was injured during the incident.

TaraVista Behavioral Health Center is continuing to provide care to their patients despite this tragic event that occurred at their administrative offices. The CEO of TaraVista, Francis Sauvageau, confirmed that all patients and staff members are safe and unharmed with no injuries reported during this incident. Despite structural damage caused by the crash, TaraVista remains structurally sound and continues to offer its services to its full capacity of 117 patients at the time of the crash.

The circumstances surrounding this crash are still being investigated by authorities including Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.’s office as well as local police departments. TaraVista is a psychiatric hospital that offers acute care services to children, adolescents and adults primarily from Worcester and Middlesex counties as well as from across the state and southern New Hampshire.
