Geena Davis, now 68, opened up about her experiences as a mother during the Big Screen Achievement Awards at CinemaCon 2024 in Las Vegas. She shared how she relies on her three children – daughter Alizeh and twin sons Kaiis and Kian – for technological assistance, admitting that she is not very tech-savvy.
Davis expressed her gratitude for her children, who keep her updated on social issues and technology trends. She also discussed how becoming a mother in her 40s allowed her to mature and become more evolved before having children. She emphasized the importance of instilling self-esteem in her kids and was thankful for the opportunity to be a mother.
Davis’ role as a parent inspired her to advocate for gender equality in Hollywood, leading her to establish the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media in 2004. Reflecting on her children’s choices, Davis revealed that none of them followed her into the entertainment industry initially. However, two of them have recently expressed interest in acting, despite Davis’ initial reservations about child actors. She respected their decisions and valued their independence.
