In the Hudson Valley, several libraries are playing a crucial role in helping people overcome digital barriers. These libraries are part of the “Digital Navigators of the Hudson Valley” program, which provides free technological assistance to those in need.
The program offers a range of services to individuals, including training guides known as digital navigators who can help with tasks such as using a device, securing internet service, completing online job applications, applying for services, accessing educational resources, signing up for free phone programs and handling online bill payments.
In Ulster County alone, five libraries have joined the program: Kingston Library, Elting Memorial Library, Plattekill Library, Town of Ulster Public Library and Woodstock Public Library. Additionally, Red Hook Library in Dutchess County is also participating in the program.
