Empowering Health: How Oklahoma Businesses are Partnering with Health Departments to Boost Employee Wellness and Success

In northeast Oklahoma, health departments are partnering with businesses to improve the health and wellness of their employees. The Oklahoma State Department of Health is stressing the importance of promoting employee health not only for their overall well-being but also for the success of businesses. In 2019, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) introduced Work@Health in Oklahoma, providing businesses with tools and resources to establish or enhance health and wellness programs.

Chrissy Swift, a Health Educator at the Rogers County Health Department, emphasized the significance of businesses participating in programs like Work@Health. She explained that such programs can be used as a resource for employee retention and recruitment. Swift highlighted that having such programs in place demonstrates to employees that their employers care about their health and well-being.

Businesses in district 4 counties, including Craig, Delaware, Mayes, Nowata, Ottawa, Rogers, Wagoner, and Washington, have the opportunity to participate in a two-day, in-person training program later this month. Interested businesses can contact the Rogers County Health Department for more information on how to get involved in the program. This initiative aims to support businesses in creating a healthy workplace environment and promoting the overall health and well-being of their employees.
