ESPN has struck a deal with TNT Sports to license select college football playoff games. This agreement will see TNT Sports air two first-round CFP games in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, and from 2026 to 2028, they will add two quarterfinal games each year. TNT Sports will be the primary network televising these games, along with additional distribution platforms.
TNT Sports chairman and CEO Luis Silberwasser expressed his excitement about the agreement, stating that they aim to provide fans with the best possible viewing experience for these marquee games. ESPN’s executive vice president Rosalyn Durant highlighted the reach and promotion that this deal will bring as college football enters a new playoff era.
This agreement follows ESPN’s $7.8 billion media rights extension for the CFP through the 2032 season. ESPN will continue to broadcast all other CFP games, including the National Championship game. CFP executive director Bill Hancock welcomed TNT Sports to the college football playoff family and looks forward to seeing their innovative ideas for delivering and promoting the games.
The playoffs will expand from four teams to 12 this year, with the top four conference champions receiving first-round byes. The first round will consist of four games played at home campus venues.
