EVN to Lower Prices for New Energy Contracts: A Step Towards More Affordable Energy in Lower Austria

EVN lowers electricity and gas rates for new customers

EVN, a Lower Austrian energy supplier, is set to lower prices for new contracts starting on April 1, 2024. Customers will have the option to choose between a tariff with guaranteed prices and a commitment for one year or a market-based tariff that is adjusted monthly. The guaranteed electricity tariff will drop to 14.14 cents net (16.9680 cents gross) per kilowatt hour, which is around 47 percent cheaper than the offer from a year ago.

In addition to the lower electricity prices, EVN’s gas prices will also be cheaper in April. The guaranteed gas tariff with a one-year commitment and price guarantee will fall by around 55 percent compared to last year’s offer to 5.30 cents net (6.36 cents gross) per kilowatt hour. The market-based tariff from April will cost 3.3780 cents net (4.0536 cents gross).

Existing customers may also benefit from the new offers, according to EVN managing director Herwig Hauenschild. They will receive a new offer at the latest when their commitment expires. This adjustment in pricing reflects the lower wholesale prices and aims to provide more affordable energy options for consumers.
