Examiner Publisher Receives Silurians Press Club Award for Excellence in Health and Science Reporting

Examiner Media’s publisher Adam Stone has recently received a Merit Award for Health and Science Reporting at the Silurians Press Club’s 79th Annual Journalism Awards. This recognition adds to Examiner Media’s previous success at the New York Press Association (NYPA) Better Newspaper Contest in April, where they received honors in six categories. Stone and his team were awarded first place for best Freedom of Information journalism project and third place in the Writer of the Year category.

The Silurians Press Club’s awards ceremony marked the beginning of their 100th-anniversary celebrations and recognized outstanding journalism from across the industry. The top winners included The New York Times and Newsday, both receiving a President’s Choice Award, and The Record/northjersey.com – USA Today Network taking home first place in the Health and Science Reporting category for their piece on aging in New Jersey.

In addition to these accolades, The New York Times also earned a Merit Award for a piece focusing on opioid-related deaths within the Medical Examiner’s office. Examiner Media continues to provide professionally-reported local news, features, and sports coverage to keep readers informed.
