The Catawba Science Center is set to unveil its latest exhibit, “Expanding Horizons: The Solar System & Beyond,” on July 10. This permanent exhibit will be located in the Hall of Astronomy, just outside the Millholland Planetarium. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the solar system and learn about space travel.
One of the highlights of the exhibit is a Mars pod that allows guests to get a feel for what it would be like to live on the red planet. In addition, there will be a new planetarium show called “Destination Mars” that will be narrated by former NASA astronaut Mae Jemison.
To find out more about the exhibit and planetarium show, you can visit CatawbaScience.org/Hall-of-Astronomy. The Catawba Science Center is situated on the SALT Block at 243 3rd Avenue N.E. in Hickory. The science center is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m
