Exploring the Future of Sport Climbing: 2025 IFSC Youth World Championships Returns to Europe with Unparalleled Excitement in Helsinki

Helsinki Chosen as Venue for Climbing Youth World Championships in 2025

The Youth World Championships of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) are returning to Europe for their 2025 edition. Helsinki, the capital city of Finland, will host the event from July 28th to August 3rd, welcoming hundreds of young climbers from around the world. After successfully organizing the IFSC Youth European Championships in Lead in 2023, KiipeilyAreena Ristikko – one of the largest climbing gyms in Northern Europe – will host Lead and Speed competitions. Boulder competitions will take place at Helsingin Kiipeilykeskus, located about 12 kilometers from the other venue.

The event is expected to be a great success under the management of the Finnish National Federation. IFSC President Marco Scolaris expressed his excitement for the event, stating that it gives a glimpse into the future of the sport. He praised the positive feedback received from last year’s Youth European Championships held in Helsinki and is confident that this year’s Youth World Championships will be just as successful.

Finnish National Federation President Juho Risku shared his enthusiasm for hosting the event, calling it a game-changer for Finnish climbing. He highlighted how much progress has been made in Finland with regards to climbing over recent years and emphasized how valuable visibility this event will bring to Climbing in the country.

Competitors will be divided into two age categories: under 17 and 19, as opposed to previous years where they were divided into three categories: under 16, 18, and 20. The full calendar for IFSC Season 2025 will be released later on this year.
