Max Verstappen surpasses Lewis Hamilton in the ranking of the world’s highest-earning athletes | Formula 1

Forbes has released a new rich list that highlights the earning potential of top athletes, with F1 drivers Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton being the only representatives from the motorsport world. Verstappen was ranked 17th on the list, while Hamilton was placed 21st.

Verstappen’s total earnings for the year amounted to $81 million, with a significant portion coming from his salary and prize money after winning the F1 championship. On the other hand, Hamilton earned $69 million in total, with a major portion of his earnings coming from his salary as well. Hamilton also earned $12 million from sponsorships and other off-track activities, showcasing his star power and ability to attract lucrative deals away from the racing circuit.

The rich list was dominated by footballers, golfers, and players from the NFL and NBA, with Verstappen and Hamilton being the only F1 drivers featured. The rankings showcase the significant earning potential of top athletes, with both Verstappen and Hamilton poised for even greater earnings in the future. Verstappen stands to receive a hefty bonus if he secures a fourth consecutive F1 championship win, while Hamilton’s move to Ferrari next year is expected to result in a salary increase and additional sponsorship deals.

Overall, the top 10 earners in 2024 according to Forbes included Cristiano Ronaldo, Jon Rahm, Lionel Messi, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokou, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Karim Benzema
