Florida Atlantic University recently hosted its 16th annual Business Pitch Competition, where students and veterans presented their innovative entrepreneurial ideas. Sponsored by the College of Business and the Adams Center for Entrepreneurship, the event aimed to provide seed money for aspiring businesses. A diverse range of participants pitched their unique ideas, showcasing their creativity and entrepreneurial drive.
The competition saw several standout winners, including NanoSense, a company founded by FAU High dual-enrollees Noor Habona and Abigail Sinu. Their device uses compounds found in people’s breath to detect potential health conditions such as lung cancer, tumors, and asthma. This breakthrough technology earned NanoSense the first-place prize in the student track category.
Another impressive winner was Aryana Sahai from A.D. Henderson University School, who won in the youth track for Ladlis. Ladlis is a sustainable handcrafted bracelet organization that donates proceeds towards educating young girls in India. Additionally, family-owned food company Pa’ Picar & Llevar from Monica Zuluaga and Nancy Moreno won first place in the Spanish language track, while the Barracks Legend Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting veterans with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries, won first place in the veteran track.
Judging the competition were prominent figures from local companies and organizations like Celsius, 4EverYoung, and the Florida Hispanic American Chamber of Commerce. Winners of the competition received seed money to help them bring their ideas to fruition
