First-Time Food Handler Card Applicants in Clark County, NV: What You Need to Know About In-Person Testing

Southern Nevada Health District’s Food Handler Safety Training Card Program

Individuals who are applying for a Food Handler Card in Clark County, NV for the first time must take an in-person test at one of the Health District’s locations. They have the option to either schedule an appointment or walk in to take the test.

The test is comprised of 20 multiple-choice questions, and a passing score of 70% or better is required. Once the test is passed, a $20 card fee will be collected, and a three-year Food Handler Card will be issued. The test applicant must present valid identification that meets the Health District’s ID policy during in-person testing.

It is important to note that only the test applicant is allowed to enter the testing area due to space limitations. Children, family members, or friends will not be admitted into the testing area. Online testing is not available for first-time applicants; all testing must be done at an SNHD office.
