Flag Football Tournament Showcases Skills and Teamwork of San Antonio Children from Underserved Schools

San Antonio Sports’ Flag Football Tournament to Feature Elementary Students from 5 School Districts

Nearly 900 elementary school children from the San Antonio Sports’ i play! after-school program will be participating in a flag football tournament on Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Classics Elite Soccer Complex on East Bitters Road.

The students competing are in third through fifth grade and will be representing 44 area elementary schools from five different districts. Throughout the past school year, the students received skill-based instruction in multiple sports, including flag football, as part of a seven-week unit.

Parents, family members, and friends are encouraged to attend the games to support the young athletes. The i play! program aims to provide children in underserved schools with skill-based instruction in four sports, promoting confidence, self-esteem, and healthy habits. Additionally, the program emphasizes self-discipline, social skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
