Fleetwood Town Shakes Up Roster with Additions of Everton Midfielder Mackenzie Hunt and St Mirren Defender James Bolton

Fleetwood acquire midfielder Hunt and defender Bolton

Fleetwood Town has added two new players to its roster, former Everton midfielder Mackenzie Hunt and defender James Bolton from St Mirren. Bolton, 29, has joined the Cod Army after making 26 appearances for the Scottish side last season. He has signed a two-year contract and brings experience from playing for various clubs such as Macclesfield, Halifax, Gateshead, Shrewsbury, Portsmouth, and Plymouth, where he was part of the League One winning squad in 2022-23.

On the other hand, Hunt, 22, was released by Everton earlier this summer and has also signed a two-year deal with Fleetwood. Despite being on Everton’s books since the age of 13, he never made a senior appearance for the club. However, he was named on the bench 17 times in the Premier League last season. Hunt expressed his excitement about joining Fleetwood, praising the manager’s ambitions and looking forward to a fresh start with a team that is looking to bounce back from a disappointing season.

Hunt mentioned that he is eager to start playing “proper football” and believes that Fleetwood is the right place for him to do that. With experience in competitions like the Bristol Street Motors Trophy with Everton’s under-21s, Hunt is looking forward to making an impact with Fleetwood and contributing to the team’s success in the upcoming season.

Bolton brings valuable experience to Fleetwood’s defense as well as knowledge of how to succeed at different levels of football. His signing marks another step towards building a strong team capable of competing at higher levels.

Hunt adds depth to Fleetwood’s midfield options and could be an important player in their push for promotion next season. His ability to play both defensively and offensively will give managers flexibility when selecting their starting lineup.

Overall, these signings are significant steps towards rebuilding Fleetwood into a competitive team capable of achieving success in League One next season.
