Florida State Baseball Secures Spot in College World Series with Thrilling Win over UConn in NCAA Super Regional

Florida State baseball team defeats UConn, moves on to College World Series

The Florida State Seminoles are set to make their first trip to Omaha since 2019 after a thrilling win over UConn in the NCAA super regional. FSU secured a 10-8 victory in 12 innings to earn their spot in the College World Series.

The game was full of lead changes, momentum swings, and mental errors, but FSU managed to come out on top with the help of six home runs. James Tibbs III, the ACC Player of the Year, was a standout performer, hitting three of those home runs and driving in six RBIs.

Despite UConn’s efforts to stay in the game with their own home runs, FSU stayed resilient and managed to pull out the win. Pitcher Jamie Arnold had a tough outing but managed to keep FSU in the game with nine strikeouts in 5.1 innings.

After a back-and-forth battle, FSU finally sealed the win in extra innings, thanks to Tibbs’ heroics and a strong performance from pitcher Conner Whittaker. The Seminoles will now look ahead to the College World Series, set to begin on June 14 at Charles Schwab Field.
