Former First Lady Michelle Obama Surges Ahead of Donald Trump in Hypothetical Election Scenario

Michelle Obama Could Be the Only Person Capable of Replacing Biden and Defeating Trump

In a recent Ipsos/Reuters poll, former First Lady Michelle Obama holds a clear lead over Donald Trump in a hypothetical election scenario. Around 50% of respondents stated they would vote for Obama, while only 39% said they would vote for Trump. This contrasts sharply with Vice President Joe Biden, who was in a dead heat with Trump at 40% each.

Despite her popularity and potential to win against Trump, Michelle Obama has consistently stated that she will not run for president. Her communications director confirmed this in a recent statement to NBC News. While Michelle Obama has been highly influential in American politics and has expressed her support for President Biden and Vice President Harris, it is unlikely that she will enter the race.

Other potential Democratic candidates such as Vice President Kamala Harris, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, all polled lower than Trump in the same survey. Despite not standing for office, Michelle Obama has campaigned for important causes such as healthy eating and gender equality. Her presence in the 2020 election cycle was expected to bolster support for Biden. Former President Barack Obama, her husband, has supported Biden but has also acknowledged the challenges Biden may face in this election following a tough debate performance.
