French Prosecutor Investigates Claims of Corruption against President Eric Ciotti’s Team

French Prosecutor’s Office probes leader of Los Republicanos for suspected misappropriation of public funds

The French Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into allegations of irregularities in the use of parking cards provided by the port of Nice to individuals close to President Eric Ciotti of Los Republicanos. This investigation, launched on May 31 after a tip from the anti-corruption association Anticor, has added complexity to the pre-electoral scenario within the French conservatives.

Ciotti has been facing criticism after his attempt to reach an agreement with the far-right National Group for the next elections resulted in his colleagues trying to remove him as head of Los Republicanos. Despite these challenges, justice ruled in Ciotti’s favor on Friday, allowing him to remain in office. Ciotti’s campaign team has denied any wrongdoing, calling the accusations “ridiculous” and labeling them as yet another attempt to undermine their candidate’s credibility. They are confident that these accusations will be proven false and will not impact the election outcome.

The team remains focused on their campaign efforts and is determined to overcome these obstacles. They believe that the accusations are baseless and will eventually be recognized as such. As they continue their campaign, they are committed to staying on course and not allowing these distractions to impact their work.
