From Auburn’s “Kick Six” to His Son: CJ Davis Following in His Father’s Footsteps at Auburn

Auburn offers son of Tigers’ football legend a scholarship opportunity

Auburn’s “kick six” moment in college football history is still fresh in the minds of fans today. On November 30, 2013, at Jordan-Hare Stadium, the Alabama Crimson Tide attempted a last-second field goal to break a tie with Auburn. However, the kick fell short and was returned 100 yards for a touchdown by Auburn’s Chris Davis, giving the Tigers a stunning win.

Fast forward to present day, and the son of the Auburn legend, CJ Davis, is following in his father’s footsteps. A rising 9th grader from Hewitt-Trussville High School in Trussville, CJ recently received an offer to play at his father’s alma mater. CJ shared the news on social media by posting a photo of him and his father during Chris Davis’ playing days at Auburn.

Despite not yet receiving a ranking from recruiting outlets, CJ is beginning to attract attention from other schools as well. In addition to Auburn, he has offers from Arkansas, Florida State, and UCF, where his father’s former college head coach, Gus Malzahn, is now in charge.
