From Black Cats to County: Diamond’s New Chapter with Stockport County.

Stockport secure former Sunderland winger Diamond

After leaving Sunderland this summer, 24-year-old Jack Diamond has signed a three-year contract with Stockport County. The former winger spent 10 years with the Black Cats, having come through their academy before departing. Last season, Diamond made 16 appearances for Carlisle United on loan after missing much of the campaign due to accusations of rape and sexual assault, which he was eventually cleared.

Stockport County boss Dave Challinor expressed his excitement about signing Diamond, stating that they have been interested in him for a while. Challinor acknowledged the challenges Diamond has faced in the past couple of years but praised his resilience in getting back to playing. With a full pre-season ahead of him, Stockport County believes they can help Diamond regain the form he has shown previously and are eager to start working with him.

Diamond is thrilled to be joining Stockport County and is looking forward to starting a new chapter in his career. He stated, “I am really excited to be here at Stockport County and I am grateful for the opportunity to play at this level. I have always had a lot of respect for the club and its fans and I am eager to prove myself on the pitch.”

Stockport County manager Dave Challinor added, “We are delighted to have signed Jack Diamond as he brings a lot of experience and talent to our squad. He has faced some difficult times in recent years but we believe he has what it takes to succeed at this level and we are looking forward to working with him.”
