From Blue Devil to Transfer Portal: Jeremy Roach’s Next Chapter in the Duke Basketball Program

Duke point guard Jeremy Roach announced on social media Tuesday that he is entering the transfer portal after four seasons with the Blue Devils. Roach, a former five-star recruit, played pivotal roles during a transitional period for the program. With the return of guards Caleb Foster and Tyrese Proctor, the Blue Devils have a solid backcourt despite Roach’s departure. However, adding another guard through the transfer portal may be beneficial for Duke since they also lost Jared McCain to the NBA Draft. Roach will have one season left to play using the bonus year of eligibility provided to players due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Roach averaged 14 points and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 42.9% from three-point range in 32.7 minutes per game during his time at Duke.
